A new 2027 Toyota Land Cruiser with an MSRP of $74,675* is not a stripped trim: full-time four-wheel drive, a trailer hitch and a safety suite are already included. On 84-month financing, the $15,165 difference between the 1958 trim and the Premium trim changes the monthly payment, a calculation to cross-check with current Toyota special offers.
A 2.4 L turbo four-cylinder teams with an electric motor integrated into the 8-speed automatic transmission. Total output is 326 horsepower and 465 lb-ft available low in the rev range. That instant torque matters when you pull out of a sloped parking spot with a trailer in tow.
Performance in the 2027 Toyota Land Cruiser also comes from its standard hardware: full-time four-wheel drive, an electronically locking rear differential, Crawl Control and Downhill Assist. The nickel-metal hydride battery charges as you drive, so there is no plug-in charging, unlike a fully electric model, such as the one shown in the bZ spec sheet.
The rated 6,000 lb. towing capacity corresponds to a 22-foot pontoon boat on its trailer or two snowmobiles in an enclosed trailer. Compared with the towing capacity of Toyota SUVs, the Land Cruiser exceeds the RAV4 (3,500 lb.) and the Grand Highlander Hybrid MAX (5,000 lb.).
A Class IV trailer hitch is factory-installed, with trailer sway control. Inside, the five-seat layout yields a flat load floor once the rear bench is folded, and the 2,400 W outlet in the cargo area can power a saw or a compressor on a job site.
Two systems stand out off-road: the multi-terrain selector, which adapts traction for sand, mud or rock, and the multi-terrain monitor that shows what is happening under the front wheels. Add to that the Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 suite, nine airbags and a Blind Spot Monitor.
The multimedia display ranges from 8 inches on the 1958 trim to 12.3 inches on the other trims, with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility. The Premium trim adds a Head-Up Display, a digital key and a JBL sound system. Shoppers also considering an electric vehicle by Toyota will notice the different approaches between the two lineups.
Plan for about 4,925 mm in length, roughly 1,940 to 1,980 mm in width and 1,926 to 1,935 mm in height, on a wheelbase of 2,850 mm, with a curb weight around 5,357 lb. depending on trim. The dimensions of the 2027 Toyota Land Cruiser make it shorter than a Sequoia but taller than a Highlander. In an underground garage, check clearance before heading down the ramp.
Ground clearance is about 210 mm and the short overhangs are most useful on rutted forest roads, where a unibody SUV may already be scraping.
The 1958 trim brings back the original model’s round headlamps. Other trims switch to rectangular units and Rigid Industries fog lights with selectable colours. An upright windshield, side steps and muscular fenders underline a design that stays functional first, decorative second.
The cabin focuses on heated front seats, a leather-upholstered heated steering and dual or tri-zone air-conditioning. New for 2027 on the Premium trim: heated and ventilated rear seats are standard.
Fuel consumption is rated at 10.7 L/100 km city, 9.5 L/100 km highway and 10.1 L/100 km combined. For 5,357 lb. on a ladder frame, this is the real gain from hybridization. A V6 with similar output often exceeds 12 L/100 km in this class.
With a 68-litre tank, the theoretical range is close to 670 km. On a Sherbrooke-Gaspésie trip, that means one more fuel stop than with a midsize SUV, not three.

The basic warranty covers 36 months or 60,000 km and the powertrain 60 months or 100,000 km. Extra Care Protection can be added afterward, up to seven years or 200,000 km depending on the plan.
Scheduled maintenance is every 6 months or 8,000 km, similar to a Corolla. Parts cost more than on a compact SUV, but the Land Cruiser uses hardware shared with the Tacoma and Tundra and is widely supported in Quebec.
The trailer hitch is already standard. A Toyota accessory purchased and installed at the time of new-vehicle purchase benefits from 3 years/60,000 km of coverage. After purchase, coverage is the balance of the basic warranty or 12 months/20,000 km according to applicable terms.
The debate never ends, but the Land Cruiser always comes up: six decades of production and a reputation built where dealerships are scarce.
